Spaz Attack

Thoughts from a big spaz who has lots to spaz about.

One of my favorite songs to sing to my boys is You Are My Sunshine. When I was younger, I only knew the first part and thought it was a sweet song. I recently learned the second part and now I think it is the saddest song ever. But, ya know that I'm all about drama so I still like it! :)

The other night, I was singing it to Tyler and he told me to stop and sing the ABC song to him instead! I guess he doesn't like sad songs like his mama!

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other night, dear,
As I lay sleeping
I dreamt I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear,
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried.

Tyler hates having direct sunlight hit his face. A couple of months ago, he told me to "turn off the sun" while we were driving in the car. Early this morning, while it was still dark out, I turned on the TV and he said to me, "Uhma, turn off the TV. The sun is in it."

I've posted about this before, but my son has OCD! Man, he loves to point out when things are messy. For example, he likes to point out dirty cars on the road and tell me that it needs a car wash. ("Mommy, that red car is old and dirty. It needs a car wash. It is yucky.") Yesterday, we had this conversation:

"Mommy, you vacuum?"
"No Tyler. Why do you ask?"
"The floor is dirty."
"Where?" (laughing)
"Here and here and here and here..." (pointing to spots on our dirty carpet!!!)

Haha..I was laughing. Tyler is totally saying his own ideas and thoughts now, putting words together to make completely unique sentences on his own, ones that he has not heard before so it's really fun to talk to Tyler these days.

Another funny conversation?

"Mommy look! A pumpkin patch!"
"Yes, but this pumpkin patch is small. Not like the one by Emo's house that we went to. That one had rides and a lot more pumpkins. It was a lot better. Don't you think?"
"Yeah. Emo's house is big and pretty. My house is small and ugly." (OH MY GOD!! I was freaking laughing! How does he know that? I mean, it is the truth but can he SEE the difference at 2 and a half years old?!)
"Really, why do you say that?"
"Emo's house is big and I like Katie's bed."
"You like Katie's bed? Her bed is a crib and it is for babies. You are a big boy."
"Mom, I am a baby too."

The conversation went from there but I just was amazed that he put all of that together, that he was able to realize the difference of Claud's and our home and be able to tell us. I later told Jason when he got home and Jason didn't quite think it was as funny as I did. He just said it was sad and that we would have to move ASAP. haha...I thought that was cute too.

Most recent pics of Chase...

Just kidding...these are pics of Tyer at Chase's age. Posted to show you how alike they look! They have the same face shape, eyes, nose, and mouth. Compare Tyler's pics with Chase's pics underneath. I think the only real obvious difference is their skin color since Tyler has a lot lighter skin color (he got my pale skin...poor thing!).

BTW, what would I have done without the "miracle" blue chair from Jenn? Tyler and Chase has been lulled to sleep on this vibrating chair at least a million times. Thanks Jenn for saving my life!

"I'm getting ready for Halloween. This year, I picked out my costume. I will be James the Train. My mom and I put labels on the treats I will pass out to my class. My mom didn't want to send candy so she bought fruit snacks. Geez...can I get a break for one day?"

"I'm trying to hug Chase here, but he looks miserable! You can see his scar in between his eyebrows? I threw my Cranky toy at him when he was only 2 weeks old. ASometimes, I touch his scar and blame other people. I've said sorry many times. I didn't know what I was doing!"

"Here is a picture of me and my brother. I love him!"

"Most recent pic of Chase, at almost 3 months."

"Here is Chase at 2 months. Look at all that hair! He was born with so much, my mom already had to give him a haircut!"

"I had my first playdate with a girl. I think my mom and her mom were more excited."

"I went to a pumpkin patch with my auntie and cousin. This was the best pic my mommy could take of us!"

Last week, right before Tyler, Chase and I were about to head out the door, I remembered that I forgot to bring some money. I told Tyler to wait by the closed door while I ran in to get some. When I came out of the room, to my surprise Tyler had opened the door and was standing outside. I was surprised because this was the first time he had done this, meaning that he is now able to reach the top lock. I looked at him straight in the eyes and said, "Tyler, do not open this door when Daddy or Mommy is not with you because if we cannot see you, a bad man might come and take you away and we won't be next to you to protect you." It took him a second to digest what I had said and then he started bawling!! Oh my, I felt like such an awful mom. I'm sure there could have been better choice of words for the situation! Oops! It was sad but so comical at the same time.

Jason gave Tyler a haircut and now he looks like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber! I don't know what's up with Jason..he'll spend his money on everything, but when it comes to Tyler's hair, he always says, "Why spend money on that when I can do it?" Why? WHY?! Because you give him a FOBilicious bowlcut! That's why! Next time, I'm taking him somewhere!

Tyler is really fasinated with my c-section scar. He saw it once and asked if I had an "ouwie" and I told him "You used to be in Mommy's tummy. When you got too big, the doctor cut me and took you out. You started to cry and daddy told you that you would be ok." He now frequently asks for this same story and listens with bright eyes. He laughs hysterically when I tell him, "You kicked me and Mommy went ow!" while holding my tummy like it's being kicked.

When Tyler does something he knows he shouldn't be doing, he asks me, "Mommy, you happy?" cause I guess he knows he is doing something that doesn't make me happy. I've never said that to him so I don't know where he got that!

Well, my days pass rather quickly. I drop Tyler off in the morning, run a couple of errands with Chase, come home and do a few thing, then it's time to pick up Tyler again. When we get back home, we play, I give the boys their baths, and then it's time for Jason to get home. Once he gets home, we usually have dinner together and then it time to get cleaned up and ready for bed. Time really flies during the days and I love being a stay at home mom.

Chase is now almost 3 months. He is 17 pounds now and more alert. Tyler is very sweet with him and it melts my heart when Tyler hugs him and says sweet things to him, like "Don't cry Chase. I'm your big brother. I will protect you." Awww... Another cute thing he does is when we are in the car. If Chase starts to cry, Tyler will dangle a toy for Chase to look at. Too cute for words!

Why I was fired...

For the last company picnic, management decided that, due to liability issues, we could have alcohol, but only one (1) drink per person.

I was fired for ordering the cups...

Heidi sent this to to me today and I thought it was funny!

Christine commented on a previous post that perms are great. Actually, I was kind of scared to get one, but I'm so glad I did! It's been awhile since I last got one, but the perms nowadays are so much more natural looking, like you just put curlers in or used a curling iron. Also, I can't believe the volume that I'm rocking now. My hair has doubled, which is a good thing for me cause my hair is so straight. The "nappiness" from the perm makes styling so much easier...who knew?

I'm addicted to the show Flippin' Out on Bravo. Have you seen it? I am in awe of the character Jeff. I love the way he thinks, the way he acts, the childish incredulous faces he makes, his botoxed face and injected lips. It makes you wonder if he is for real or if he is playing up a character for the cameras. Whatever the case, it is my favorite show to watch after Top Chef. Who knew that Bravo would have me so captivated?

Also, I wanted to say hi to Kelly Huang! We need to get dim sum one of these days! Also, to Grace from Cal. Hi! :) I heard from Robert that you had a beautiful wedding. Can't believe that we're married now... Say hi to Danny! I was going to say "Texas Danny," but I'm sure he must be so sick of hearing that.

If you ask Tyler, "What is Britney Spears' new song?" he will reply, "Gimme gimme more!" in his cute toddler voice. Haha, I had to teach him that one!

Wow...it's been a long hiatus, huh? Someone has stripped all joy out of blogging for me (and you know who you are!), so I don't know if I'll continue this.

But, I had to write today and share with you the conversation I had with Tyler on the way home from preschool yesterday. I can't believe how much Tyler talks now. I was cracking up on the way home with him yesterday.

"Go to Target."
"Tyler, you have to ask nicely, not ugly!"
"Can you go to Target please?" (said in the cutest voice imaginable)
"No"
"Please?"
"No."
"Baby Chase wants to go to Target too."
"Why?"
"He wants a race car- a red race car."
"Why do you want to go?"
"I buy a blue race car."
"Tyler, I don't know where Target is."
"Look for the red circle with a dot in it."
"Tyler, you know I can't go with both of you."
"But, we are family!" (said a couple of times)

(Trying to distract him and get his mind of Target) "Give Chase his pillow back."
"It's mine!"
"No, it's not."
"Yes, it's mine. It says T-Y-L-E-R. (spelling his name)
"Where does it say that?"
"On the back."
"Uhma, can you go to Target please?!"

(Trying to distract him again)
"Look at that truck in front of us. It has a lot of wires."
"The truck has trash. It is dirty."

(Tyler playing with the pillow, which has a hole in it. Holding the pillow in front of his face and looking out the hole.)
"Look, uhma, it's a circle. I'm Target!"

Every day is an adventure. Everything that comes out of Tyler's mouth amazes me. His smile melts my heart. He is truly a "good boy" and I'm already so proud of him. Is it possible? I love him more each day.
