Spaz Attack

Thoughts from a big spaz who has lots to spaz about.

On one of the morning shows today, Ellen Degeneres was on giving tickets to her talk show. They picked some people to come on a dance floor and she gave out tickets to some of the dancers. They picked about 20 people of all shapes, colors, and ages, and they danced to Sexy Back. For some reason...I LOVED IT! It was so fun to just watch a group of carefree individuals move their stuff on the dance floor. There was one teenage girl who was spinning like Michael Jackson, one overweight guy just letting loose like Chris Farley from SNL, and older grannies swaying their hips. It just put a smile on my face and made me happy.

Hello, it's been so long since I wrote in here. Yes, Chase is a very easy baby to take care of, but I'm still exhausted and take every quiet moment to sleep and relax. I'm still sore from my c-section, which sucks because I really wanted to go out by now!

I'm going through a bit of an blogger identity crisis, where I want to share things but at the same time, I wonder if I'll be sharing too much. I am pretty much a open book to people. If you ask me a question, I will always answer you honestly- sometimes to my own detriment. It's one thing if I don't share something, but if you ASK me something, I will be upfront and honest with you. Anyways, there are things in my life that are going on right now, but I'm too shy to share and wonder if I'll regret having diarrhea of the mind. Hopefully, my little "crisis" will resolve itself and I will continue to write in here.

Tyler was in a small car accident this morning. His first one, and hopefully his last. My father in law was driving him to preschool when they were rear ended. I heard he jerked quite a bit and I'm worried that he might experience some back pain tomorrow. We decided that it would be best if he didn't go to school today and he's been with me all day. His first words when he got back? "Car stopped and my candy fell to my knee." Obviously, he was eating candy on the way to school. Ah ya, the truth comes out- I told my in-laws to stop giving him candy!

I don't think Jason and I look alike at all. With that said, there are millions of different looking children that could be made if you combine our facial features. And, with THAT said, you have to wonder how in the world is possible that Chase and Tyler could look so much alike! Ok, so Chase is only 4 weeks old and I'm sure that things will change and they might not end up looking so alike later in their lives. But, for now, when I look at Chase, I think I'm having de ja vu and I'm holding Tyler up in Portland. A little freaky. The both have Jason's head shape (though Chase's in a little bit on the smaller side), they have my eyebrows, they have Jason's nose and my mouth. The eyes- we won't be able to tell until Chase is a little bigger but we think he has double eyelid like Tyler (which comes from Jason because I didn't get my double eyelids until much later in life). I know. Too much unnecessary information! But, it's just funny. I know that siblings look alike, but at this point, my boys could be twins!

I'm so sick of being fat! I still have so much weight to lose. I can't weight till I am all healed and can walk around! At least some sort of movement would be good for my mind and spirit since I have been a couch potato for the last 6 months!

Happy early birthday to Richard! I'm not exactly sure how old Rich is. He always seems so much older than he really is. There were times in my life when Rich definitely seemed older than me but then his birthday would come up and I realize that he is 7 years younger than me!

Chase is such a good baby! I never knew that it could be this easy! Seriously, all he does is eat and sleep...so different from Tyler when he was a newborn. He barely cries, and when he does, we just change this diaper, and he is a happy clam again and goes back to sleep. I wonder if it is because he was born a bit premature so maybe he's just doing what he would have been doing in utero. In any case, all is going well in the Kim house. I'm recovering (too slowly!) from the c-section, Tyler is adjusting well to his little brother, and Chase is the easiest baby to take care of!

Introducing Chase Kim!

Meeting Tyler for the first time.

Tyler giving Chase a kiss for the first time.

Chase with Uncle Rich.

Chase with his hands up in the air.

Here is a picture of Tyler when he was just born. Isn't it amazing how much they look alike? Tyler was definitely bigger but they have such similar features! They could be twins!

Some of you probably guessed it...Chase Kim was born on Monday, August 6th at 12:33 AM. He was a healthy 7 pounds and 7 ounces. (at 36 weeks!) I'll write more later when I get a chance. Will post pictures soon! :)

9 more days! Jason and Tyler are at the beach again. They go like every Saturday and Sunday. I wanted to go but I was a little tired so decided to stay behind. Here is a post about our recent adventures with Tyler!

- When I show him the clothes I want him to wear in the mornings, if he doesn't like it, he will yell, "Put it back!"

- When I say "I love you," he will always reply, "I love you too."

- His favorite outfit is a Thomas Train shirt, jean shorts, and Crocs. He would wear this every day if I would allow it. Sometimes, it is just easier to let him wear what he wants so I don't have to fight with him in the mornings. I swear, he has so much clothes and shoes but his teachers at school must think Tyler has nothing to wear!

- He can now open the refrigerator. He will open it and tell us what he wants so we have to hide the "bad" food in the back where he can't see it, like the ice cream. Usually though he will say, "I want both apple and orange." He still loves fruit!

- He likes mint chocolate chip ice cream. Since I don't like to give him chocolate, I tried to trick him by giving him vanilla ice cream. He said upon looking at the white ice cream, "Not this one. I like mint better."

- He is pretty good about brushing his teeth before his goes to bed. I'm very happy about this. If he doesn't want to brush his teeth, I will yell out, "The Elmo toothbrush is mine!" while running to the bathroom and this usually makes him follow me. We have a routine: brush teeth, spit it out with water, and floss. I'm so proud of the fact that flossing is part of the routine. Jason thinks I'm crazy, but, dude, gotta start these habits at a young age.

- If I ask him to do something and he doesn't want to do it, he will say, "Later." If I tell him "later" when he wants to do something, he will yell "Now!"

- He LOVES puzzles. You know those 24 piece large puzzles. He does about 3 a day. Of course, we help him out, but he is getting the hang of it and knows what piece could go with what. If he puts 2 pieces together, he says, "I did it!" If I put 2 pieces together, he says, "Good job, uhma!" When there are a few pieces left, he will say, "Almost done!" and when we are done, he says, "We did it!"

- He likes to use the word "only." If I give him two things to eat, he will say, "I only want to eat this one."

- He can retell me the story of The Three Little Pigs. It is hilarious because he will turn the pages and say the words that I read to him, like, "The wolf said, 'Open the door. I'm going to eat you!' and the pig said, 'No, go away!'"

- Lately, he is acting more and more silly. Yesterday night, before he went to sleep, he kept saying, "Uhma, where are you?" well knowing that I was standing right next to him. He was acting like I wasn't there!

- We like to play hide and seek, but he doesn't totally understand how to play it yet. I will count and I tell him to hide. After I yell, "Ready or not, here I come!" I will walk around the house and ask, "Is Tyler under the bed?" and he will answer, "NO!" from his hiding place. If I ask, "Is Tyler behind the door?" and he will answer, "NO!" again from this hiding place. Finally, if I ask, "I wonder where Tyler is." He will run out of his hiding place and yell, "Here!" haha...

I guess that's enough for today. Overall, I think Tyler is a happy boy. He rarely throws tantrums and loves to laugh. He is becoming quite a jokester. He loves talking and learning new words. It is the best thing in the world to see him grow! I can't wait for him to meet Chase.

Ok, 10 days left! How can that be? Well, actually, the c-section has now been changed from the 9th to the 13th. I'm fine with that because that means the baby will arrive when I am 38 weeks as opposed to 37 weeks. I really want the baby to come but what's 4 more days, right?

Ok, Happy Friday everyone! Have a great weekend!

In the middle of last night, Tyler called me. "Uhma." I thought he had a bad dream so I went to him and patted his back in hopes that he would go back to sleep. When I thought he was sleeping, I was about to get up when he said with his eyes still closed, "Uhma, hold my hand." So I laid next to him holding his hand. And every time I thought he was back to sleep, I would try to get up and he would grab my hand tighter, never once uttering another word or opening his eyes. Just holding tighter.

I don't ever want to forget this moment- Tyler and I laying together in the darkness. Holding hands. His little rhythmic breathing making his back rise and fall. Warm air coming from his mouth and hitting my face. Sounds of the sprinklers outside. Never wanting the moment to end. Just holding hands.
